India celebrates Teacher's day on 5th September every year in the memory of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was the first Vice-President and second President of the country. Bollywood has played vital role in portraying the role of teacher-student (Guru-shishya) bond on big screen.

This story by Sanjay Leela Bhansali revolved around a blind and deaf girl
(Rani Mukherjee played a character inspired from Helen Keller's life) and relationship with her teacher who himself later develops Alzheimer's disease (Amitabh Bachchan).

Iqbal (2005)
Another sensational movie made by Nagesh Kukunoor touching upon the teacher-student relationship was Iqbal. It was a story of deaf and mute boy (Shreyas Talpade) in a remote Indian village who aspires to play in the national cricket team. Aarakshan (2011)
Directed by Prakash Jha, Starring Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan and Manoj Bajpayee. The decision by India's supreme court to establish caste-based reservations for jobs in education causes conflict between a teacher (Amitabh Bachchan) and his mentor (Manoj Bajpayee).
I am Kalam (2010)

Hichki (2018)
